You be killed!

In September 2000, my organisation joined the ITF and the General was good enough to travel to Southern England to welcome us and to teach us about sine wave.

I volunteered to perform Yul-Gok move-by-move and the General corrected me. When we got to the hooking block combination, he placed his hand in front of me (as if punching) and asked "What do you do?" I grabbed his wrist like the hooking block suggested - he looked at me in the eyes, paused for a moment and exclaimed "NO! You be killed!"

He explained that the 1st hooking block should be a guard, although it is possible to grab, and that it should serve as a warning - the 2nd block is the main grab so that you have at least tried to disuade the opponent from punching again.
So remember, as far as hooking blocks go... You be killed!

He is sadly missed.

Get money back

I participated in a training by General Choi when I was in WTF. I was wondering about this great man and his teaching. Well, he was super!!!

Because I was able to perform 17 tuls at that time (with WTF-mistakes however) he asked me, "Who is your instructor?".When I mentioned the name of my instructor, General Choi said: "Phoney Instructor, get money back", and he looked at me with laughing eyes, not putting me down but showing me he loved me and any Taekwon-Do student who put effort in the art of Taekwon-Do.
